PEORIA, Ill. - Sophomore Madison Fry led the way as an undermanned IUPUI women's cross country team as the Jaguars competed at the Bradley 'Pink' Classic on Friday (Oct. 15). Fry finished the 6K race in a time of 22:43.7 and placed 119th of the 286 runners competing.

Head coach Antonio McDaniel's squad opened the day limited to just seven entries due to injury and had just six finish Friday's race.

Fry had a breakout performance, slashing 42 seconds off her prior best to lead the Jaguars to the finish line.

"It was great racing today - some really great racing weather," Fry said. "It was nice to get a PR and I was happy to help contribute to the team as much as possible."

Behind her, Illinois-native Sabrina Elder clocked a time of 23:17.7 to finish 194th and freshman Laci Provenzano closed at 23:48.8, missing a personal best by just more than a second.

Sophia Taylor notched a time of 24:20.8 in her first career 6,000m race and Alexandra Schwartz rounded out the scoring five in a time of 24:30.7, taking 35 seconds off her previous best. Kara Krol was just outside IUPUI's scorers at 24:53.9 and sophomore Ellie Cates was forced to drop early in the race due to dizziness.

Collectively, IUPUI finished 34th of the 37 teams with 954 points.

Nebraska won the team title with 122 points, followed closely by Big Ten foe Iowa at 136. Host Bradley (207), South Dakota State (229) and South Dakota (242) rounded out the top five.

Wichita State's Yazmine Wright earned the individual tape in a time of 20:35.5, finishing just ahead of Xavier's Rachel Butler.

IUPUI will now turn attention to the Horizon League Championships, which the Jaguars will host at Northview Church on Oct. 30.
