CLEVELAND, Ohio – Four Ohio cities are included in a ranking of the 100 best cities for vegetarians and vegans.
The personal-finance site WalletHub, which compares places on a variety of topics and is open about its methodology, came out with the ranking.
The site examined a number of variables under three main categories: Affordability; diversity, accessibility and quality; and vegetarian lifestyle.
Researchers looked at grocery costs, vegetarian options on restaurant menus, vegetarian cooking classes and others.
Ohio’s rankings:
45. Cincinnati
60. Cleveland
74. Columbus
90. Toledo
With Cincinnati once known as ‘Porkopolis’ and Toledo claiming Tony Packo’s hot dogs, it’s almost a wonder they figured into the ranking.
Top three places overall are Portland, Orlando and Los Angeles.
For affordability, Laredo, Texas, came out on top. For diversity, accessibility and quality, San Francisco finished first. And for vegetarian lifestyle, Fremont, California, landed the top spot.
The list includes 17 California cities.
