It is easy to look at the last preseason game and say that the Atlanta Hawks are contenders. However, what needs to be taken into account is the fact that the Hawks played a Miami Heat team missing all of their best players.

However, in a recent interview, John Collins stated that the Hawks are contenders. This comes after the Bogdan Bogdanovic interview with Chris Kirschner where he said that he still felt that the Hawks were underdogs.

Well, the rest of the NBA needs to be paying attention to the team out of the state of Georgia as they are certainly going to making noise at the end of the season barring injuries. The depth of this team is just too much and stopping Trae Young is going to be harder this season as well.

The Atlanta Hawks can contend in a loaded Eastern Conference

If they can stay healthy, the Hawks have last year’s leading rebounder Clint Capela coming back. He led the league in offensive rebounds which was a big part of his offense, the other part was being fed by Trae Young near the hoop.

They have two incredible defensive wings in Cam Reddish and De’Andre Hunter who missed most of last season due to injury. John Collins is becoming a true stretch four who can rebound and protect the rim and Trae Young is one of the best point guards in the league.

They have beefed up their bench with Delon Wright and Gorgui Dieng as well as welcoming Reddish back. On top of that, they added Jalen Johnson and Sharife Cooper in the draft which makes them so deep with their returning players.

Next. The Hawks need to make State Farm Arena a fortress. dark

Fortunately for the rest of the Eastern Conference, the situations in both Brooklyn and Philadelphia are going to help the Hawks. Fortunately, the Hawks should be in a position to beat those teams at full strength anyway. As Collins also said, anything less than a championship this season won’t be good enough.
