The Fall River Symphony Orchestra is back. Here's what the FRSO has planned for this month.

FALL RIVER — The first concert of the Fall River Symphony’s 2021-2022 season will be Sunday, Oct. 24 at 3 in the BCC Jackson Arts Center Theater.

It will be a "Red, White and Blue" fall concert featuring works by American composers, with a patriotic slant. The concert will open with the Aaron Copland Fanfare for the Common Man, and it will also feature other works by Copland, Morton Gould and George Walker. A highlight will be the Copland Lincoln Portrait, narrated by local librarian and storyteller David Mello.

The musical director will be Douglas McRay Daniels, in his seventh season with the symphony.
There will also be a performance by last year's Young Artist Competition winner, Christopher Tillen of Weston, who will play the first movement of Rachmaninoff's Second Piano Concerto.

The musical director will be Douglas McRay Daniels, in his seventh season with the symphony. Daniels is also the director of the Bentley University Chamber Orchestra and an adjunct lecturer at Tufts University. He has served as instructor of music for the past seven years at Gann Academy and the chair of the Arts Department form 2012-2016.

Among his many accomplishments, Daniels is the founder and artistic director of the popular 3rd Sundays @ 3 Chamber Music Series. This televised chamber music series highlighted chamber groups throughout the Greater Boston Area and across the country.

This will be the opening concert of the Fall River Symphony’s ninety-sixth season. Other concerts this season will be a Dec. 19 Holiday Pops concert, a Feb. 27 Winter Concert featuring music by Johannes Brahms, Mozart and Augustus Hailstork, and an In Memoriam Spring Concert with music by Franz Schubert and Ottorino Respighi, date and location to be determined.  Subscriptions are available.
