FAIRBANKS – The Alaska Nanooks swim team welcomed the University of Nebraska Kearney Antelope to town on Friday, Oct. 15. In their first hosted-meet in over a year and a half, the Nanooks defeated UNK 142-63.

11 events were raced on day one. The Nanooks took first in 10 of them. The day kicked-off with the 400-yard medley relay. A team made up of
Nella Pashak,
Whitney McArthur,
Adeline Berry and
Emma Corby grabbed the win with a time of 4:13.00 in the seeding time and a finals time of 4:10.10. Corby went on to grab another win in the following event, the 1650-yard freestyle. She won the race in a time of 18:27.62.Â

Shannon McCallum continued the Nanooks reign with a win in the 200-yard freestyle, posting a seeding time of 2:05.01 and a finals time of 2:01.51. Pashak grabbed another Alaska win in the fourth event, posting a seed time of 25.99 in the 50-yard freestyle before winning with a finals time of 25.46. Corby won again, this time in the 200-yard IM with a seeding time of 2:19.93 and a finals time of 2:13.73 for her third win of the night.Â

Adeline Berry grabbed an individual win in the 100-yard butterfly, posting a seeding time of 1:01.65 and a finals time of 1:01.89.
Lainey Lioi came in second-place in the 100-yard freestyle, the lone UNK win for the night. Lioi posted a seed time of 57.05 before being edged out in the finals with a time of 56.45. UNK's winner posted a time of 56.08. Pashak was back on top for the 100-yard backstroke, winning with a finals time of 1:05.36.Â

Payton Wojciechowicz added a win to her name in the 500-yard freestyle, posting a seed time of 5:40.87 before winning it in the finals with a time of 5:29.27. Alaska ended on a string of four wins as
Naomi Burgan won the final individual event of the night. She grabbed first in the 100-yard backstroke posting a finals time of 1:15.95. The 400-yard freestyle relay ended the night and a team of Corby, Lioi, Pashak and W. McArthur won it for the 'Nooks. They posted a time of 3:46.68.Â

The two teams are back in action at the Patty Center Pool tomorrow, Oct. 16, at 10:00 a.m. All spectators must view from the upper deck viewing area and masks are required.Â
