Shorthanded Timberwolves Trampled by Spartans

Missing multiple starters and heading to the Olympic Peninsula with just 15 players, Morton-White Pass coach Lee Metcalf and his team figured they were in for a long night.

In constant rain, the injury-riddled Timberwolves were no match for Forks, falling 69-0 in 2B Southwest Washington Football League play on Friday.

“We got what we expected,” Metcalf said. “Our whole backfield was out. But we get more guys back next week. We’ll be fine.”

Without both Layten and Kysen Collette out, plus their stable of running backs and some linemen, the Timberwolves’, with just four guys on the bench all night, struggled to move the ball and stop an undefeated Forks team.

The T-Wolves were held to just 72 yards of offense while the Spartans racked up 606 yards, including 594 on the ground.

Brecken Pelletier was MWP’s leading ball carrier with four touches for 11 yards. He also caught four passes for 48 yards. Hunter Hazen reeled in four catches for 49 yards.

Backup quarterback Bleu Aron went 8 for 24 passing for 97 yards.

Morton-White Pass (4-3, 2-2 league) gets a much easier test next week when it travels to North Beach.
