HOUSTON -- Shortly after the Astros beat the Red Sox in Game 1 of the ALCS, Houston manager Dusty Baker compared two of his club’s stars to a well-known pair of Boston legends.

Jose Altuve and Carlos Correa both homered in Houston’s 5-4 win, as Altuve tied the game with a two-run blast off Tanner Houck in the sixth inning and Correa gave Houston the lead with a solo shot off Hansel Robles an inning later. The showing continued a historic postseason run for both players, who have helped the Astros reach the ALCS in five straight seasons.

The heroics from the two infielders reminded Baker of two Patriots-turned-Buccaneers who have their share of well-known playoff moments.

“Those guys have been together for a long time,” Baker said. “They know each other. It’s kind of like Tom Brady and (Rob) Gronkowski. They know how they think. They know probably what they eat for dinner, what they like and what the kids like. It’s a special relationship that will last forever because when they get through playing, they’ll be coming back to many teams that won in (2017) or teams that won here and teams that won there and they’re a big part of it.”

Altuve now has 20 home runs in 68 career postseason games, including one in each of Houston’s last two wins. Correa has 18 in 68 games.

The two stars have homered in the same postseason game four times. The Astros are 4-0 in those games.

“I don’t know if they’re trying to one-up each other, but they’re trying to do the best they can every time out there,” Baker said.
