Xbox Series X Mini-Fridge Gets Price and Pre-Order Date

After months of waiting, Microsoft has finally given consumers more information about their mini-fridge that will look like the Xbox Series X. The fridge will launch in December of this year, just in time to be on any Xbox fan’s Christmas list. Before that, however, it will become available to preorder starting in October.

The latest Xbox Wire blog post gave multiple details about the upcoming fridge, starting with the fact that the first series will retail for $99.99/£89.99. This blog post also states that they will be available for pre-ordering starting on October 19th, with multiple retailers selling the product globally once it becomes available in December.

In America, the Xbox Series X shaped minifridge will be available exclusively through Target. Microsoft has promised to expand the regional availability of the product starting in 2022. Since the ongoing chip shortage will not effect the fridge, consumers should be hopeful that it will be more available than the actual console.

Since the Xbox Series X was announced, a meme involving it acting as a fridge has been ongoing due to the tall and boxy shape of the console itself. Microsoft played into this meme, even giving away a full-sized fridge based on the console design in November of last year.

Last April, Xbox’s Aaron Greenberg announced that the meme would indeed become real with a full production of mini-fridges also baring the design after the company won #BestOfTweets branch bracket championship. While information since then has been light, during E3 2021 the company confirmed that the product would release some point during the 2021 holiday season.

The fridge is being developed in partnership with Ukonic! and will feature LED lighting to give the system’s signature glow. It can hold up to 10 cans of whatever drink you choose to stock it with, as well as two shelves on the door.
