U.S. President Joe Biden this week confessed that he likes children better than he likes ‘people’. The President, while visiting Connecticut to sell his Build Back Better plan to the American public raised a few eyebrows with his comment.
“You know, I talk to all your folks out in the playground and I joke, everyone knows I like kids better than people,” he said. “Fortunately, they’re like me, maybe that’s why I like them.”
Biden’s affection for children goes back to his days as a lifeguard as a young adult. It was there that Biden realized he liked children and they showed an interest in him too.
At a pool where he worked as a lifeguard, he said the ‘colored’ Biden claimed the children would sit on his lap and look in awe at this wavy blonde hair, something he said they weren’t used to.
“And by the way, you know I sit on the stand and it’d get hot. I got a lot of — I got hairy legs … that turn blonde in the sun,” Biden said in 2017. “And the kids used to come up and reach in the pool and rub my leg down so it was straight and then watch the hair come back up again.”
On stage, Biden is known for being close to children, holding them, whispering in their ears, and even putting his face close to their heads as a sign of affection.
It’s easy to understand why Biden told the children he likes them better than their parents. Throughout his day in Connecticut, adult hecklers could be heard chanting, “F-ck Joe Biden…He’s not our president…traitors.” Protesters lined some of the roads with Donald Trump flags and anti-Joe Biden flags and signs.
