Following a hearing this afternoon, the NHL's Department of Player Safety announced that Detroit Red Wings captain has been suspended for one game for roughing Tampa Bay Lightning forward
Mathieu Joseph.
"What causes this play to rise to the level of supplemental discipline is the retaliatory nature of the punch and the force which it was delivered to an unsuspecting opponent." The Department of Player Safety said in their video describing their reasoning for the suspension.
Larkin will miss Detroit's game on Saturday night against the Vancouver Canucks, and will be eligible to return on Tuesday, October 19th against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
