Curtis Mead brought his scorching bat from the regular season with him to the desert as the 20-year-old connected on a go-ahead three-run dinger in the seventh inning to provide the difference for the Scorpions. It was the first Arizona Fall League long ball for the 14th-ranked Rays prospect, who is now 2-for-7 with a walk through his first two games in Arizona. Fifth-ranked Red Sox prospect Jeter Downs got Scottsdale on the board with his first roundtripper of the Fall League in the opening frame. Landon Knack provided three scoreless frames of relief for the Desert Dogs. The eighth-ranked Dodgers prospect worked around a hit without allowing a walk and struck out three. More »

Mesa 9, Surprise 3
Jeff Criswell made his AFL debut and threw better than his line indicated -- the right-hander allowed a pair of runs on three hits and a walk while fanning five over 3/2 frames. The 14th-ranked A’s prospect got off to a fast start, retiring nine of the first 10 batters he faced, and exited after throwing 41 of 65 pitches for strikes to turn in his longest outing as a professional so far. Criswell had plenty of support as No. 12 Orioles prospect Yusniel Díaz mashed a 421-foot two-run homer in the fourth, and 22nd-ranked Marlins prospect Kameron Misner capped Mesa’s scoring with a 425-foot solo blast in the final frame. On the other side, third-ranked Nats prospect Jackson Rutledge took the hill and yielded four runs on six hits and a walk whiling whiffing five over four frames. The 22-year-old did retire a stretch of eight straight batters from the first to the third innings. Texas' Justin Foscue (MLB No. 83) doubled twice, walked and scored a pair of runs. More »

Salt River 2, Peoria 1
Spencer Torkelson paced the Rafters offense with a three-hit performance. MLB Pipeline’s No. 4 overall prospect notched a base knock in the fourth, sixth and eighth innings – accounting for one-third of Salt River’s hits in the game. Sixth-ranked Rockies prospect Michael Toglia opened the scoring in the game with a solo blast to right in the second. It was the 23-year-old’s first dinger of the Fall League. Brett Baty (MLB No. 45) laced a double down the left-field line in the fourth, stole third and scampered home on a wild pitch. Baseball’s No. 62 overall prospect Nick Gonzales drove in the Javelinas' only run with a two-bagger to right in the sixth. It was the first knock of the fall for the fourth-ranked Pirates prospect.
