AKRON, Ohio-
In the Akron women's soccer team's first overtime match of the 2021 season, the Zips came away with a 0-0 double-overtime draw against Northern Illinois on Thursday night at First Energy Stadium.

"We've had Back-to-back games with a clean sheet is a positive, but we are disappointed with the draw," commented head coach Noreen Herlihy. "That shows me a lot with the character of this group. They refuse to quit and now we will go on the road looking for maximum points this weekend."

Akron slightly edged the Huskies in shots, 15-12, while both teams equally had four shots on goal. Redshirt junior Aislinn Meaney (Claire, Ireland) paced the Zips with a game-high four shots, while freshman Morgan Pentz (Broadview Heights, Ohio) registered three shots, two on goal.

Freshman goalkeeper Freshman Penelope Cuirinier (Mionnay, France) registered four saves.
