MEDIA COURTHOUSE – Two defendants were formally arraigned on criminal homicide and related charges Friday for the Feb. 22 shooting death of 23-year-old Randy Maultsby.

Kyree Washington, 17, of Chester, and 26-year-old Linwood resident Jabree Robertson were also arraigned on third-degree murder, attempted homicide, aggravated assault, conspiracy and firearms charges. Court of Common Pleas Judge George Pagano has set a Nov. 22 pretrial conference date for both defendants.

Another Chester man, Darin Shelton, 31, is also facing murder and related charges for the shooting that killed Maultsby and wounded two others. He is scheduled for a Nov. 1 status conference before Judge Pagano.

Chester police officers responded to the area of West Seventh and Lamokin streets at about 5:47 p.m. Feb. 22 for a report of a person shot. Officer Zachary Litvinenko was directed to a victim by bystanders, later identified as Maultsby.

Maultsby reportedly suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was transported to Crozer-Chester Medical Center by ambulance for treatment, where he was later pronounced dead. An 18-year-old and another juvenile were also injured in the shooting, police said.

Detectives from Chester and the Delaware County Criminal Investigation Division launched a homicide investigation and later identified Shelton, Washington and Robertson as suspects.

Washington, represented by defense attorney Scott Galloway, and Robertson, represented by James Bonner, both stood mute Friday and the court entered a plea of “not guilty” on their behalves. Assistant District Attorney Kathleen Magee is prosecuting.
