A new charter school coming to Saratoga Springs will soon be taking applications, officials said.
Crews broke ground Friday on the new Ascent Academy of Utah, a public charter school open to students from kindergarten through 6th grade.
Officials said the school will begin accepting applications on their website starting Nov. 1.
“Saratoga is a fast-growing community, all the Silicon Slopes are, so to have this investment in the future for the area is big,” Mayor Jim Miller said.
Wade Glathar with Ascent Academies of Utah added that this is an exciting opportunity for everyone in the community.
"We're thrilled that we’re here at this point and time, where we can be, really, an anchor school for the community, a neighborhood school for them, where families will see it from the beginning as their school," Glathar said.
The new facility in Saratoga Springs will be Ascent's fifth Utah location. Officials said the building will offer "enhanced learning spaces in a welcoming environment that also incorporates modern security design enhancements."
Their other buildings are in Lehi, West Jordan, West Valley and Farmington, where over 2,100 students are already enrolled.
