South Haven woman drowns in Muskegon

MUSKEGON, Mich. —
A South Haven resident drowned in Lake Michigan Thursday night.

A swimmer struggling in a rip current was reported at 10:46 p.m. to the Muskegon Fire and Police Departments.
Officials were called the beach at Pere Marquette Park.
Coast Guard units used boats and helicopters to help in the rescue.
First responders were on the beach, in the water and in the air for several hours searching the lake.

The body of 18-year-old Taleah Lowe was recovered after being found in the water, officials reported.

An autopsy was ordered by the medical examiner's office.
