Rocky Mount Historic Site will soon grow by 15 more acres.

The site recently completed the purchase of a field across the road from their current location.
The strip of land will serve as a buffer between the historic area and new housing and commercial developments.
Volunteers are working on an old barn on the site, but no decision has been made yet on what will be done with the land.
"This is a 200 year old farm, and we just want to keep it in that tradition that it's a farm. It just expands the Rocky Mount site," Rocky Mount Board Vice President Donald Davis said.

Some ideas include a potential nature center. The land could also show life when the surrounding area is all farmland.
