Guests required to be vaccinated or show negative COVID test at Harborview Medical Center

KING COUNTY, Wash. — Starting Tuesday, guests 12 and older will be required to be fully vaccinated or have received a negative COVID-19 test in the last 72 hours when visiting someone at Harborview Medical Center, according to a new policy by UW Medicine.

According to hospital officials, the restrictions are being put in place to help prevent the spread of the virus.

A person is considered to be fully vaccinated when they have completed their second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines or a single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine two weeks or more before visiting.

The new policy comes after Gov. Jay Inslee announced Thursday that large events would be required to verify that all attendees are either fully vaccinated or have gotten a negative test in the last 72 hours.

Proof of vaccination can be met by showing one of the documents listed below:

  • Centers for Disease Control and Prevention COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card or photo of the front and back of the card
  • Documentation from a health care provider or electronic health record (for example Epic MyChart)
  • State immunization information system record (for example MyIR https://myirmobile.com)
  • For an individual who was vaccinated outside of the United States, a reasonable equivalent of any of the above (for example the World Health Organization yellow vaccination card)

Large events are defined as indoor events with 1,000 or more attendees and outdoor events with 10,000 or more attendees.

That mandate goes into effect on Nov. 15 and applies to all attendees 12 and older.
