Community rallies around deputy jailer battling cancer

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Warren County Regional Jail hosted a lunch fundraiser Friday after one of their employees was diagnosed with cancer.

Deputy Jerod Borden was diagnosed with stage 2C colon cancer and will be going through six months of chemotherapy to treat it.

This diagnosis comes after Borden just recently recovered from a major surgery.

People in attendance said they thought the turnout was pretty good.

Warren County Jailer Stephen Harmon said Borden has worked for the jail for 11 years.

“Jerod is so appreciative. He gets emotional when we talk about it and have been planning for months to do this. So we just appreciate everybody’s support and love that they’ve shown, all the strength and the prayers that have been put out for the Borden family,” said Harmon.

Funds collected during the event will be matched up to $2,500.00 by Modern Woodman Financial and all of the food was donated by Aramark.

If you were unable to attend but would like to donate to the Borden families’ expenses, you can drop off money at the Warren County Regional Jail.
