United Superintendent Jeff Whitsitt Says the District Has Built Balances Up as Tax Levy Discussion Begins

Share

The United School Board of Education has begun their discussion on the upcoming tax levy that will be requested from the four counties in the district, says Superintendent Jeff Whitsitt:

“Our board has always been very conscious of trying to maintain a very consistent rate. Part of that is setting our goals and deciding what it is we want our balances to be. It hasn’t been all that long ago that there were years where it was a struggle to keep balances. We have had some good years here the last couple of years and we have been able to build some balances back up. We are coming back to a point where I think we can start talking about doing some things a little differently and we still have our safety net in place for moving forward. That is why we start the discussion now; try to get as much information out as we can. In November we will talk about the max funds then in December we will pull it all together and have a levy that we are going to request from the counties.”

As for the COVID-19 update provided by Superintendent Whitsitt, at the end of last week there were two positive cases and 14 in quarantine.
