Game Preview: No. 5 Alabama Crimson Tide vs Mississippi State Bulldogs

When: Saturday, October 16 at 7:00 pm ET on ESPN

Location: Davis Wade Stadium, Starkville, MS

After suffering their first loss of the season last Saturday night against Texas A&M, the Alabama Crimson Tide hit the road for their second consecutive SEC road contest, this time in Starkville against Mississippi State.

As mentioned previously, the Crimson Tide suffered their first loss of the season a week ago falling 41-38 to Texas A&M on a field goal as time expired. Despite outgunning the Aggies in total yardage, the Crimson Tide were outscored 24-10 in the first half, as well as committing many other mistakes that played a big role in the outcome of the game.

Alabama because of this loss has dropped from No. 1 to No. 5 in the AP Poll with a 5-1 record on the season. The Crimson Tide also enter their third true-road game of the season with the other two coming at Florida and Texas A&M.

Mississippi State enters this contest off a bye week, but looked very-impressive in their last game two weeks ago where they defeated Texas A&M 26-22 in College Station. The Bulldogs nearly doubled the Aggies in total yardage in the contest, which included 408 of their 438 total yards coming through the air.

Mississippi State sports a 3-2 record in year two under head coach Mike Leach, as well as being 1-1 in SEC play. The Bulldogs also average 428.6 YPG on the season, 87% of which come through the passing game
