Xander Schauffele needed weeks to recover from Ryder Cup hangover

Xander Schauffele’s hangover after Team USA’s Ryder Cup win was his worst in years.

“My wife said she hadn’t seen me that bad since college,” said Schauffele, a San Diego State alum, while speaking at The Summit Club Tuesday ahead of the CJ Cup this weekend in Las Vegas.

“I’m speaking for a lot of people that I talked to, we all let it hang loose in the end and had a really good time,” he recalled of the celebrations after Team USA’s 19-9 win against Team Europe last month.

“I had to sober up after my little episode there in Wisconsin, so I’m feeling much better, much more alive,” the 27-year-old admitted.

Team USA partied hard after the 2021 Ryder Cup win, and much of the team’s beer-chugging, stogie-puffing festivities were caught on camera. Viral videos show Schauffele kneeling on the green while chugging High Noon seltzers.

A separate clip from Team USA’s post-tournament press conference showed Schauffele smoking a cigar.

The celebrations also included the WAGs from Team USA. The wives and and girlfriends of Team USA’s 12-man Ryder Cup roster chugged champagne and showered the golfers with love on the green.

Brooks Koepka enjoyed Michelob Ultra, while his fiancee Jena Sims sipped Moet from a massive bottle in photos on social media.

Meanwhile, college sweethearts Katherine Zhu and Collin Morikawa sealed the Ryder Cup win with a kiss on the green.
