Grey's Anatomy spoilers follow.
A Grey's Anatomy returnee is reflecting on her "surreal" return to the show. As viewers watching at US pace (or anyone who's just a fan of a spoiler) will know, Kate Walsh returned to Grey Sloan memorial earlier this week in the October 14 episode 'Hotter Than Hell'.
The star initially waved bye bye to her role as Addison Montgomery back in 2012 while also playing the beloved character in Private Practice from 2007 until 2013. Now, speaking to Entertainment Tonight, she's revealed how it really felt to be back in her scrubs.
The actor described the experience as being "completely surreal" as she found it difficult to describe exactly what it was like following her almost-decade-long absence from the long-running ABC series.

"I knew it would be odd but it was so emotional, and so big and yeah, beyond, because when's the last time you've ever gone back to a job that you started 18 years ago that you left 10 years ago?" she shared. "You know what I'm saying? There's no infrastructure. There's no construct for it."
The star added that she initially felt "worried" and "nervous" about heading back to the show and seeing her old co-stars, noting: "It was so emotional and I think it will be also for the fans."

But, what we really want to know now is can we expect to see Addison back once again? Well, Kate (who now lives in Australia) admitted she actually doesn't know if she'll be back once again.
"I've got other commitments right now and I am kind of halfway around the world most of the time. She's the classic unavailable mother character. Like, bye, I'm here and then I'm gone. I did two episodes and then you'll see what happens," she said.
Let the petitions to have her back again commence in... three... two... one...
Grey's Anatomy season 18 airs on ABC in the US. In the UK, seasons 1-16 are streaming on Disney+, while season 17 is available via Sky Witness and NOW.
