Some notes

  • The Kansas City Chiefs ruled out two defensive starters for Sunday’s game: defensive tackle Chris Jones (wrist) and cornerback Charvarius Ward (quad), though head coach Andy Reid considers both players “close” to their return. This will mark two straight games with no Jones — and four games with no Ward.
  • Backup tight end Blake Bell has also been ruled out.
  • Three other Chiefs starters are questionable — wide receiver Tyreek Hill (quad), left guard Joe Thuney (hand) and linebacker Anthony Hitchens (knee). All three players missed practice time to start the week and were limited on Friday — but my expectation is they suit up for the game.
  • Reid on Thuney: “I haven’t talked to him, but he practiced [Friday] and looked like he did a good job. Again, I haven’t talked to him, but he looked pretty good [Friday].”
  • Reid on Hill: “Yeah, he was bouncing around pretty good. He was moving well. He’s another one I haven't talked to... I’ll see how he does when he’s done here. But he was bouncing around pretty good out here.”
  • The Washington Football Team ruled five players out, including right guard Brandon Scherff (knee) and right tackle Sam Cosmi (ankle). Wide receiver Curtis Samuel (groin), who was injured last week, also won’t play.
  • Wide receiver Terry McLaurin (hamstring) appeared on the injury report Friday, which means the injury happened late this week. Running back Antonio Gibson (shin) and wide receiver Dyami Brown were limited in practice this week. All three skill players are questionable. McLaurin or Gibson not being available to Washington would be a major blow to its offense.
  • It is worth noting that Washington head coach Ron Rivera sounded fairly unconcerned when speaking about both McLaurin and Gibson, but both are certainly injuries to watch.
