Canadian Home Prices Jumped 21% in Third Quarter
Home prices in Canada spiked 21.4% to C$749,800 (US$605,000) in the third quarter, compared to C$617,800 in the same time period in 2020, according to the Royal LePage House Price Survey, released Friday. The numbers refer to aggregate prices, a "weighted average of the median values" of both condominiums and single-family homes for a given area. When broken down by housing type, the median price of a single-family detached home rose 25.2% year over year, while the median price of a condo rose 13%. CTV News
Prince Charles to Build New ‘Landscape-Led’ Town in Kent
A sustainable, "landscape-led" new town is set to be developed on Prince Charles's private estate in Faversham, Kent. South East Faversham, about 48 miles from London, will be created on about 325 acres of land belonging to the Duchy of Cornwall, a private estate set up in 1337 to fund projects attached to the Prince of Wales. English architect Ben Pentreath designed the project, along with landscape architect Kim Wilkie. Plans for the town include 2,500 homes on a grid of walkable tree-lined streets with a park at its center, a school, shops, a cricket pitch and a pub. "The proposals are to bring forward a very high quality, sustainable, mixed-use settlement that will become a thriving new urban extension to the town," said the estate. Dezeen
Singapore Registered 31% Drop in New Home Sales in September
New home sales in Singapore plunged 31.4% in September, according to latest data from the Urban Redevelopment Authority. Sales of new residences also dropped more than 37% compared to the previous month, the data showed. With a limited number of projects launching, buyers have been looking to older projects, with the majority of new purchases occurring outside the city’s core. Meanwhile, 583 non-landed homes—those built on government land with 99 year leases—priced at or about S$2 million (US$1.482 million), have sold since the beginning of the year, a record number, the data showed. DJ Zedd Buys Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner’s Los Angeles Home
The buyer of musician Joe Jonas and actor Sophie Turner’s Los Angeles home was Anton Zaslavski, the German DJ known as Zedd. The $15.2 million deal for the 15,000-square-foot Encino mansion was reported last month, but records of the buyer have just been made public. One of the world’s wealthiest DJs, Mr. Zaslavski is also looking to sell his more than 11,000-square-foot residence in Beverly Hills for $26.5 million. Dirt
