WORTHINGTON — Worthington resident Tania Torres Gonzalez faces two counts of felony-level charges in Nobles County Fifth District Court for drug possession and intent to distribute.
Gonzalez was arrested Sept. 8 after a member of Worthington Police Department observed her walking on West Lake Avenue. Aware of an active warrant for Gonzalez, officers approached the woman. At that time, Gonzalez allegedly admitted to having methamphetamine. Police located and removed the substance before transporting Gonzalez to the Nobles County Jail.
During a later interview, Gonzalez said the meth was for personal use but that she sometimes gave it away to friends in exchange for favors. It was also stated that at the time of the arrest, Gonzalez had come from a known methamphetamine user’s residence where she had allegedly been smoking.
Gonzalez has a previous conviction in 2020 for fifth degree controlled substance possession. She now faces a maximum combined 50 years imprisonment and/or a $1,250,000 fine for the two drug-related charges.
