Alicia Vikander Shares New Update on Tomb Raider Sequel

It has been some time since we got any updates on the Tomb Raider sequel. Luckily, it looks like Alicia Vikander is still eager to get started on the second Lara Croft movie. The Ex Machina actress has just shared a new update on the highly anticipated Tomb Raider 2.

The second Tomb Raider movie was confirmed a long time ago and was even expected to begin production back in 2019. However, things have changed due to COVID-19 and Misha Green was brought in to work on the sequel.

So what's happening to Tomb Raider 2 now? Vikander recently spoke to Total Film magazine where she admitted that she is hyped up for the second movie.

"When the studio first said they were interested in a sequel, I got really excited," Vikander said. "When Misha was mentioned to me and I saw the work on Lovecraft Country, I was extremely impressed."

She then revealed that she has been talking to Green about the sequel and that they are already discussing huge plans for the film.

"It's so much fun on the Zooms I've had with Misha to finally sit with another woman my own age. I get to talk about big action set pieces and stunts that we want to make. I'm hoping that we get on track and get to do something together," Vikander said.

It's great to know that Vikander and Green are actively communicating and eager to work on Tomb Raider 2. Although it sounds like the sequel is still in early development, we're hoping the two will eventually find time to get started on pre-production. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.

So far, Vikander and Green are the only names attached to Tomb Raider 2. However, Green has already started working on the screenplay and has given it the tentative title Tomb Raider: Obsidian. Hopefully, we'll get more news about the sequel soon.
