During the middle of the season, recruiting talk tends to slow down for the Texas A&M football team — or at least it gets lost in the shuffle.

For Jimbo Fisher, however, recruiting will never take a backseat to anything. The Aggie head coach, while juggling a million things throughout the season, continues to recruit during the season. Heck, he likely does his best recruiting by playing great football.

And that’s exactly what he did against Alabama, coaching arguably the best game of his career. I make this claim with the full knowledge that Fisher is an NCAA National Championship-winning head coach.

On Friday, he didn’t just get one win — he may have secured two.

The Texas A&M football team got a huge win on the recruiting trail, with a five-star enjoying his visit to Aggieland

One of the most important parts of recruit doesn’t have anything to do with college visits or talking with coaches. Instead, it simply has to do with the team’s results on the field. And through five weeks, it wasn’t looking good for the Aggies, who had a two-game skid with ‘Bama on the docket.

They won anyway.

And during that win, one of the best players in all of high school football was watching intently. That player is Shemar Stewart, a top-ten, five-star prospect in the 2022 class.

Stewart was extremely high on the Aggies after their win over ‘Bama, leaving behind a memorable quote, saying “how do you not commit after you beat the number one team?” He laughed as he said it, according to SI All-American. The elite defensive line prospect went on to admit that he was tempted to call Jimbo Fisher and commit on the spot.

This has to put the Aggies in the lead for the elite five-star as things stand. If A&M were to secure this commitment, it would give them their second five-star by the name of “Shemar” in two years, as current freshman Shemar Turner was a five-star prospect.

The Aggies already have a top ten 2022 class of commits, with five-star quarterback Connor Weigman leading the charge for Texas A&M. Fisher also has his eyes set on top overall prospect Walter Nolen.

The football season is just heating up, but don’t sleep on the recruiting season. Things could get interesting, even after the conclusion of the 2021 football year.
