The Eisenhower junior high basketball team is off to a strong first half of its 2021 season.

On Monday night, the Lady Knights defeated the Kane Lady Wolves, 42-13, which makes the Lady Knights 7-1 on the season. Scoring was led by Clara Steinberg and Lainey Font with 12 points each, followed by Sam Childs with 9 points, Laney Belcher with 7, and Olivia Wallace with 2.

“The girls are tough, and they have that competitive edge in them. They can score, they can pass, they can rebound, they play super tough defense and are an absolute joy to watch.” Coach DJ Steinberg said.

In the first game, Kendra Danielson put down 10 points to lead charge in the Knight’s 18-17 win. Lexi Pascuzzi contributed 4 points as did Olivia Wallace.

The Knights were down 17-16 with 5 seconds left on the clock and it was Kane’s ball. Wallace stole the ball off the inbound pass and took it in for a contested layup with only 1 second left on the clock. Wallace’s buzzer beater put the Knights up 18-17 for the win.

“It was so exciting to see that ball go in and all the girls jump up and down screaming in celebration,” Steinberg said. “It will be something they will always remember. Livey is one of the girls who shows up to every practice and works her hardest while she is there. She earned that buzzer beater with years of hard work and dedication. It has been so incredible to watch her progress with her skills, I can’t wait to see what amazing feat she accomplishes next.”
