“I have been secretly working on my very first album for the past…more than half of a year, and I didn’t tell my fans. I didn’t tell them the opportunity I had to record an all-Spanish album, and it has been the time of my life. I grew up singing in Spanish,” Brooke excitedly shared. “Being in San Antonio, we’re raised by so much music — tejano, Tex-Mex, Spanish music, you name it. One of my very first songs I sang was Selena, so this has always been a part of me I wanted to show the world and honor.”

Brooke didn’t let it slip if there were any artists featured on her debut record, but she did reveal who some of her producers behind the scenes were. “I’ve been working a lot on this album in Puerto Rico [and] Miami on this album with everyone from Luny Tunes to Nice Guy to Dimelo Flow. It’s been crazy,” she said, later adding that Selena’s big sister Suzette Quintanilla has been a major mentor to her throughout the recording process. “She has been like a mentor to me, like family. I text her and FaceTime her all the time. Because of her, she introduced me to Sim [Simran A. Singh of Duars Entertainment], and Sim opened up the gates to this whole opportunity of recording my Spanish album. She’s been there every step of the way.”

As for what fans can expect from the forthcoming release, Brooke said she’s been “pouring out my heart and pouring out who I am” during the recording process.

“I think people are going to learn I’m more than just an artist and just a singer. I’m someone who really cares a lot about what I do and about people and about my family, and you’ll hear that in my songs,” the “Lips Don’t Lie” singer said. “You’ll see that there’s so many different sides of me too — there’s a really energetic, kind of fierce side, but there’s also a very soft and gentle, very sensitive side to me. You’ll definitely hear everything in this album.”

Brooke’s first Spanish single “Mi Musica” is due this month, though no official date has been set. Watch the interview above.
