A pedestrian was struck and killed by an Amtrak train at a railroad crossing in Woodburn Thursday evening, according to local police.
The victim has not yet been identified, but police described the person as a 25 to 50-year-old Hispanic man of average build, with short black hair and facial hair. Police said he was wearing a dark coat and blue jeans at the time of the collision.
According to police, the man was struck by the train at the Cleveland Street and North Front Street railroad crossing in Woodburn around 7:20 p.m. Witnesses told authorities the man had gone around the downed crossing arms and attempted to cross in front of the oncoming train.
