The De Queen junior girls won the conference cross country meet at Mena Oct. 5 as well as the Rich Mountain Buck Fever Classic. In the conference tally De Queen had 24 points, to Nashville’s 41.

 

MENA — The De Queen cross country teams’ Oct. 5 trip to Mena was about as good as it gets. In four races the Leopards won six titles. The junior high teams were double winners. They took firsts in Rich Mountain College’s Buck Fever Classic, but those races also served as the 7AAAA conference meets.

Junior Boys

The De Queen junior boys cross country team claimed the 7AAAA conference title as well as first place in the Buck Fever Classic sponsored by Rich Mountain College at Mena.

De Queen’s junior boys topped Nashville by 16 points in the overall race and by 11 in the conference tally.

With all teams counted after the 2.5K race, De Queen finished with 42 points, Nashville 58, Dardanelle 105, Mansfield 108, Booneville 118, Mena 123 and Acorn 137.

In the conference count De Queen had 27, Nashville 38 and Mena 77.

Once again Randy Rodriquez was first, 8:22.6, and Rodrigo Garcia second, 8:46.7.

Jackrys Munoz placed 12th in 9:45.1, Larry Labram 14th 9:48.5, Adrian Martinez 16th 9:52.0 and Clint Tunnel 18th 9:59.0.

Edgar Villamil finished 21st with a time of 10:06.4, Jose Rojas 30th 10:27.8, Caden Lindly 36th 10:44.9 and Daniel Perez 38th 1049.6.

Carlos Villamil ran 11:06.4 for 44th,

Nathan Jacobo 11:26.4 for 49th and Christopher Salgado 11:46.1 for 56th.

 

Junior Girls

In the overall scoring in the junior girls race, De Queen had 61 points, Mansfield 77, Nashville 84, Acorn 89, Mena 125, Dardanelle 133, Centerpoint 162 and Cossatot River 177.

In conference calculations the count was De Queen 24, Nashville 41 and Mena 60.

Alyssa Neal of De Queen ran 11:09.8 for seventh place and Jaden Valdez 11:13.4 for eighth.

Megan Buendia was 11th in 11:50.2 and Aiylene Hernandez 18th in 12:21.1.

Haile Hernandez timed 12:36.7 for 22nd and Marlene Tellez 13:10.2 for 26th.

Geraldine Rafael finished 30th with 13:30.0, Haylee Mendoza 35th 13:56.0 and Jocelyn Luna 39th 14:29.7.

Mareli Melendez was 47th in 15:06.4, Jennifer Fraire 54th 15:35.7, Emmi Hale 62nd 16:46.2 and Monica Macias 63rd 16:58.9.

Senior Boys

De Queen overwhelmed the senior boys field. The Leopards had 27 points, second place Acorn 87.

Johnny Sanchez took second place in 18:20.10 followed by Gustavo Garcia third in 18:28.9, Carlos Aguilar fourth in 18:31.9 and Juan Maldinado sixth in 18:48.7.

Juan Balderas ran 19:52.2 for 13th place.

Cesar Cortes was 24th with 20:57.8, Jonny Ortiz 26th with 21:11.8 and Manuel Soto 29th with 21:27.2.

Jorge Delgado timed 21:37.3 for 31st and William Peppers 21:37.5 for 32nd.

Grayson Miller was 40th in 22:55.1, Jordan Daley 43rd in 23:18.1 and Saul Felipe 64th in 29:44.5.

 

Senior Girls

The senior girls score with the non-team runners omitted had De Queen with 34 points, Mansfield 43 and Acorn 56.

Three Lady Leopards finished in the top 10: Jacklyn Sanchez sixth in 24:17.8, Laura Figueroa ninth in 25:09.8 and Litzy Hernandez 10th in 25:35.6.

Marlen Perez clocked 25:42.5 for 12th, Presli Young 25:44.8 for 13th, Jamielete Flores 25:57.4 for 14th, Adriana Montiel 26:20.4 for 16th and Wendy Martinez 26:30.8 for 17th.

Wendy Victoriano finished 20th with 26:49.4, Alexa Monroy 22nd with 27:19.4, Jaide Tatum 24th with 27:56.4, Ale Rodriguez 25th with 28:03.3 and Abigail Barker 26th with 28:19.0.

Emily Garcia 30:22.9 for 32nd, Arlaetthe Gonzalez 30:27.7 for 33rd, Yazmin Castro 30:32.4 for 35th and Martha Jaramillo 30:49.6 for 37th.
