NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Actress Rosario Dawson has a few acting notes for "Saturday Night Live" on their impression of her boyfriend New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker.
Dawson, 42, told TMZ Thursday that she wasn't a fan of cast member Chris Redd's portrayal of her boyfriend.
"I'm really looking forward to someone doing an actual impression that really comes off as Cory."
"SNL" poked fun at Booker, 52, in last Saturday's opening sketch, mocking the Facebook whistleblower hearing that featured impersonations of other U.S. senators — though most of Redd's jokes on Booker tied him to his high-profile relationship with Dawson.
Instead, the "Dopesick" actress offered her own ideas on how to nail Booker's personality, comparing him to "Fred Rodgers" and "Ted Lasso."
"He's literally the 'Ted Lasso' of the Senate so maybe do something that's kind of a spin like that."
Dawson noted she's not offended by Redd's impression but said there's much more to Booker's personality and the work he does in the chamber.
"I just haven't seen them get it right like sometimes the impressions are really spot on for folks and I just keep feeling like they're missing it," she said. "Plus, he's doing so much on cannabis justice to police reform, passing 'The First Step Act' ... you could do a spin on him being the most trying to jump on the most things."
