NEWS: Date Announced For When U.S. Will Lift International Travel Restrictions for Vaccinated Visitors

While travel has returned to “normal” operations in the U.S., there have still been many restrictions on international travel due to COVID-19.

But, recently, the White House has announced plans to begin easing these restrictions, allowing those who are vaccinated to travel from the U.K. and EU to the United States and opening the Canadian and Mexico borders to non-essential travel (again, only for vaccinated travelers). And, now we know when these new COVID-19 travel policies will go into place.

According to Reuters, the White House announced that “COVID-19 travel restrictions for fully vaccinated foreign nationals” will be lifted beginning November 8th, 2021. This update will apply to both land borders and air travel, allowing non-essential international travel to resume.

After this date, all non-U.S. travelers will need to present proof of vaccination before traveling into the United States both by air or by land. And, if traveling by air, they will also need to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test before boarding the plane.

Foreign visitors will not need to quarantine when entering the U.S. Though, the CDC has shared that they plan to announce new rules for contract tracing for international air travelers.

COVID-19 policies will still remain in effect for Americans who are traveling overseas, requiring that they show proof of a recent negative COVID-19 test before returning.
