Aquatope on White Sand returned for another week. This time, we're introduced to one of Kukuru's favorite sea creatures; and they aren't what you might imagine!

With more than half of the 24-episodeoriginalslice-of-life completed, we still don't know what Kukuru's future path will involve, but for now, she is seriously trying her best in a role she dislikes - a stark contrast with her immaturity in the first cour.

Kukuru gets a new project and this time she is determined to make her boss proud. When asked to come with an exhibition proposal she suggests catching and displaying several kinds of sea slugs - a species she loves.

Her manager accepts, but her determination to see the project through doesn't earn her much favor among her overworked colleagues. Nevertheless, she manages to get the exhibition going with help from Kai and Fuuka.

Much to Kukuru's dismay one of the species she collected won't eat, but she's still pressured to include these slugs in the exhibition. Kukuru manages to keep them away from prying eyes for the moment with a Coming Soon sign but ends up arguing with a colleague who thinks it would be fine to not feed the slugs since this is a short-term exhibition. By the end, Kukuru manages to have her way and plans to go to a different shore, to find food for the slugs with help from her colleague.

All in all, this is another uneventful episode, but also a potentially important one: for the first time, Kukuru is forced to contemplate on the ethics of aquariums, and realize that there are no easy answers, no matter how much she cares about the animals' well being.

Aquatope on White Sand Episode 16 Release Date

Aquatope of White Sand Episode 16 is titled "A Cheers to You Who Is Covered In Wounds" (it will probably get a better translation), so we expect it to be on the emotional side. The release date is going to be Friday, the 22nd of October for subscribed users of Crunchyroll. Due to time zone differences, many international fans will be able to stream it from October 21 depending on where they are in the world.

A dub has not yet been announced but this could change at any point - the show deserves it.
