FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. (FOX 56) – Two eastern Kentucky police departments are mourning an officer who died after a battle with COVID-19.
Oliver Little served the Floyd County community for decades, most recently as a sheriff’s deputy. People who knew him said he always had a positive attitude and will be greatly missed.
“Anything you ask him to do, he loved a challenge. I mean I don’t care if I said, ‘Oliver, we need an astronaut here at the department.’ ‘Man, I’m your man, I’ll do that.’ It didn’t matter what you asked him to sign up for, he’d take it, he’d complete it, and be top of the class when he did,” said Floyd County Sheriff John Hunt.
Floyd County Sheriff’s Department shared a video on Facebook Friday morning of Little’s escort from Pikeville to Prestonsburg.
Little was in the process of transitioning from the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office to the Pikeville Police Department.
“On behalf of Deputy Little’s family and the FCSO family we want to thank everyone for keeping Oliver in your thoughts and your prayers over the last couple weeks,” the Floyd County Sheriff’s Department said Wednesday on Facebook.
At this time, funeral arrangements have not been announced.
