Batgirl: Directors Confirm Batman Will Be Appearing

Fans have been looking forward to the DCEU film Batgirl as it will mark the introduction of Barbara Gordon/Batgirl to the franchise, who will be played by In the Heights star Leslie Grace. But one of the questions that fans have been wondering is if the Caped Crusader himself will be making an appearance. After all, they usually work together in the comics.

During an interview with VRTNWS, Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, the directors of Batgirl, were asked if the Caped Crusader will be appearing in the film. They laughed and responded that it will be "the real Batman." They didn't specify which version or actor will be playing Batman in the film.

The directors might be playing coy about it, but it does confirm that Batman will be appearing in the film in some way. We don't know yet if he will appear physically, through archive photos, or he will just be mentioned. But the question now becomes which version of Batman will appear in the film?

There are three current Batman actors at the moment: Robert Pattinson, Michael Keaton, and Ben Affleck. It is unlikely that it could be Pattinson since his Batman is on its own universe and he is still in his second year as the Caped Crusader. You can guess that perhaps it could be Keaton since there are reports that there are more plans on the character after The Flash, but as far as we know, he is also on his own universe and he is being portrayed as an older Batman/Bruce Wayne.

Last but not least is Affleck. We know that J.K. Simmons will be playing Commissioner Gordon in the film, reprising his role from Justice League which had Affleck as the Caped Crusader. We also know that Affleck is coming back to play the role again in The Flash. However, there are reports that it might be his last ever turn as Batman. But given the circumstance, the best guess right now is Affleck, especially given Simmons' casting in the film.

It is also likely that it will just be a brand new actor. After all, we can pretty much assume that Batman won't be playing a big role since it is Batgirl's movie and the Caped Crusader might just appear in a cameo role that doesn't require a high-profile actor to play him. In the end, it is exciting to hear that Batman is confirmed to be making an appearance and we can't wait to find out how he will play into the plot.
