Manchester United star midfielder Paul Pogba reportedly has his agent contacting Barcelona to discuss a potential free transfer.

According to ESPN's sources, Barcelona seems to be attracted to Pogba, becoming the latest club to lay down an offer for next summer's transfer window.

Although Pogba has had a brilliant display for Manchester United, his contract concludes at the end of this season. This reality has amplified talks regarding a possible free transfer to Europe's giants such as Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, and others.

Pogba's agent, Mino Raiola, is spearheading some contacts with top clubs and has been approached by some Premier League teams. However, negotiations will begin on January 1.

There are no indications that the Frenchman will surely leave Old Trafford this summer, but he is open to analyzing different scenarios with various contending clubs all over the world.

Despite the possibility of a free transfer, signing a player like Pogba can be challenging for Barcelona. President Joan Laporta revealed in August that the club's debt now amounts to €1.35 billion, forcing key Barcelona players like Gerard Pique and Jordi Alba to take pay cuts.

FC Barcelona has had a massive struggle in form this season, placed at 9th in La Liga's standings and garnering zero wins so far in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League.

Barca has also dropped points in matches against subpar teams this season, prompting a need for change. Singing a player such as Pogba can surely steer the club forward.
