The National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced on Friday morning that Detroit Red Wings captain
Dylan Larkin will have a hearing this afternoon for roughing Tampa Bay Lightning forward
Mathieu Joseph.
The incident occurred just over half-way through the second period. Larkin was hit from behind by Joseph, and as retaliation, the Red Wings captain got up and sucker punched the Lightning forward.
Larkin was given a match penalty and ejected from the game, while Joseph didn't receive a penalty for the hit, but he did get a roughing minor for the scrum that ensued afterwards.
The Red Wings went on to blow two three-goal leads, as Tampa Bay won the game in overtime, 7-6. The two teams won't meet again until March 4th, 2022.
