Pep Guardiola sheds some light on the looming uncertainty regarding Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling.

In England's national team, Sterling boasts heavy minutes, often starting in every single marquee match.

On the other hand, the winger's minutes have recently diminished at City, opting for Guardiola to utilize other options on the bench. According to various sources, Sterling demands more minutes from the club before signing a contract extension.

As for Guardiola, he straight up downplays any clue involving future decisions on Sterling's contract with Manchester City, confirming that it is ultimately up to the club's executive branch.

“I'm not involved in the contract (situation). The club decides.”

The Spaniard also hints that, in terms of playing time, he cannot give promises to Sterling or any other player on the team.

“For many reasons, I cannot assure anyone, John (Stones), Kevin (De Bruyne), Ruben (Dias), Phil Foden. Raheem (Sterling) in that case is so important for us. He competes with (Jack) Grealish, Foden, Ferran (Torres), Bernardo (Silva), It's the reality,” City's manager stressed.

Manchester City seems to be performing well, sitting at 3rd on the Premier League table. Meanwhile, Sterling has scored one goal in seven matches, heavily competing in minutes against Manchester City's stacked attacking regime.
