Former Yankees third baseman Brandon Drury is a free agent.
The 29-year-old Drury left the Mets’ Triple-A affiliate in Syracuse on Thursday, according to Minor League Baseball’s transactions page.

Drury played 51 games for the Mets in 2021, hitting .274 with four homers, 14 RBI and a .783 OPS. At Triple-A, he hit .257 with nine bombs, 32 RBI and a .766 OPS in 56 games.
Drury had signed with the Mets in January. Before that, Drury was with the Blue Jays after the Yankees sent him to Toronto, alongside Billy McKinney, in a deal for J.A. Happ in 2018.
That season, the Yankees had high hopes for Drury, expecting him to the everyday third baseman as Miguel Andujar matured. But Drury suffered from dizziness and severe migraines and Andujar took over, eventually finishing as the runner up to the Angels’ Shohei Ohtani as the American League Rookie of the Year.
The Yankees also lost a couple of players to free agency recently. Right-hander Brody Koerner and outfielder Ryan LaMarre each became minor-league free agents.
The Yankees are in the process of figuring things out with their coaching staff in the Bronx. Then they’ll likely turn their attention toward the roster, which will see seven players come off the 60-day injured list. It’s unclear who will lose their spots as those players return.
