Max Scherzer came in to close the door in the bottom of the 9th inning of Game 5 to send the Los Angeles Dodgers past the San Francisco Giants and into the NLCS. LA Scherzer was working on short rest after starting Game 3 for LA just a couple of days prior.

Following the series clinching win for the Dodgers, Scherzer was focused elsewhere when asked if he could start Game 1 of the NLCS against the Atlanta Braves.

It's a hell of a response from the Dodgers' ace and an appropriate answer after he nailed home the win. LA manager Dave Roberts seems to already be focused on that Game 1 matchup with the Braves, per Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register.

The series between the Dodgers and Giants was a classic that came down to the final inning of the final, winner-take-all game. It is somewhat disappointing that the two teams with the best record in baseball had to meet in the NLDS but that's how it shakes out in the MLB postseason format.

For those wondering, yes there was another shirtless Max Scherzer sighting after the win against the Giants in San Francisco.

The Dodgers will be making their fourth trip in five years to the NLCS and this time around, they will be looking to defend their World Series crown. To get to that point last year, they had to knock out the Braves in the NLCS, which they did in seven games. They'll have to do it again this year as Atlanta is hoping to flip the script.
