Halloween Ends is almost here to bring rebooted Halloween trilogy to an end this year, but whether it's the end of Michael Myers remains to be seen.

Series creator John Carpenter certainly doesn't think it's the end of the franchise as a whole, but Jamie Lee Curtis has been pretty definitive that it'll be her final outing as Laurie Strode.

Returning writer/director David Gordon Green has been teasing a very different movie to the sequel, Halloween Kills. "[It's a] much more intimate movie," he told Empire. "There's not a lot of games in it, there's not a lot of wittiness and retro joy."

Halloween Ends was announced at the same time as the sequel in July 2019, although the original plan was changed due to everything that has happened since that original announcement.

What hasn't changed though is that Green is back to direct and has written the script with Danny McBride as they did on Halloween (2018) and Halloween Kills. Paul Brad Logan and Chris Bernier have also co-written the script, while John Carpenter is obviously back on board too as executive producer and for the score.

But what awaits us in the final showdown between Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) and The Shape? Here's everything you need to know about Halloween Ends.

Halloween Ends release date: When is Halloween Ends released?

Halloween Ends will be released in cinemas on October 14, 2022 after a year-long delay to its planned release.

Originally, Halloween Ends was due to be released on October 15, 2021, but in July 2020, Carpenter announced a delay to the original Halloween Kills release date on October 16, 2020.

As with Halloween Kills, the new movie will be released on Peacock on the same day in the US, but don't expect it to get a simultaneous digital release in the UK.

Andi Matichak, who plays Laurie's granddaughter Allyson, revealed in March 2021 that the original plan to film both movies back-to-back was changed as the sequel had an "intense shooting schedule", adding: "It would have been a bit much to try and do them at the same time."

The movie filmed from January to March 2022, before some brief reshoots in June 2022.

Halloween Ends trailer: Any Halloween Ends footage yet?

The first trailer for Halloween Ends was released in July 2022, teasing the epic and sure-to-be-bloody final showdown between Laurie and Michael Myers.

Halloween Ends cast: Who's coming back for Halloween Ends?

When Halloween Ends was announced, it was confirmed that Jamie Lee Curtis would be back again as Laurie Strode, so it's not a spoiler to say that she survived the sequel. She said in July 2021 that the third movie will probably be her last.

"I would say, given what I know about the next movie, I think it will be the last time that I will play her," she explained.

"And I'm not saying something like, 'Oh, because I die!' It's nothing to do with that. I'm talking about emotionally what they have constructed. I think it will be a spectacular way to end this trilogy."

Just because Laurie survived, it doesn't mean Halloween Kills didn't live up to its name though as a lot of people died. Last chance to avoid spoilers, so be warned.

The biggest death comes in the final moments of the movie as Michael kills Laurie's daughter Karen, played so brilliantly by Judy Greer.

While we don't see her body, it would be a miracle if she survived his attack, as much as we'd want to see Greer back. "Well, I was bummed to see the ending," Greer explained of the shock twist.

"I thought it was a good idea, though. I thought it was really beautifully written, and it felt like a dance, like an opera, kind of. But it was also a little bit of a bummer, mostly because I like to play with my friends."

Andi Matichak is also back as Karen's daughter Allyson, so we're sure she'll team up with her grandmother for revenge.

Lindsay Wallace did survive on her return to the franchise as Kyle Richards and it's been confirmed that she'll be back in Halloween Ends. According to Variety, her return in Kills was so well-received that the threequel was rewritten to include her.

"When my character didn't die, I was like, 'Uhh, hello!'" she said. "The last movie, I saw Jamie on the set, but we didn’t have stuff together. So I'm really hoping that there is more stuff together."

Will Patton is also returning as Deputy Frank Hawkins, while newcomers include Rohan Campbell as Corey Cunningham. Of course, we'll also be seeing Nick Castle and James Jude Courtney back as Michael Myers, aka The Shape.

The likes of Anthony Michael Hall's Tommy Doyle, Nancy Stephens' Marion Chambers, Robert Longstreet's Lonnie Elam and Dylan Arnold's Cameron Elam were all among Michael's countless victims, so that's the last we'll see of them.

Halloween Ends plot: What will Halloween Ends be about?

The official synopsis was released for Halloween Ends along with its first trailer, so check it out below:

"Four years after the events of Halloween Kills, Laurie is living with her granddaughter Allyson and is finishing writing her memoir. Michael Myers hasn't been seen since. Laurie, after allowing the spectre of Michael to determine and drive her reality for decades, has decided to liberate herself from fear and rage and embrace life," it reads.

"But when a young man, Corey Cunningham, is accused of killing a boy he was babysitting, it ignites a cascade of violence and terror that will force Laurie to finally confront the evil she can't control, once and for all."

We assume that the final movie will see Laurie attempt to kill Michael once and for all with whatever method she discovers. Could we also get some explanation as to why Michael is so obsessed with returning to his childhood home?

Curtis is remaining tight-lipped about what to expect, but did tell The Illuminerdi that it's going to "shock people": "It's going to make people very angry. It's going to stimulate people. People are going to be agitated by it. And it is a beautiful way to end this trilogy."

Will this really be the end of Michael Myers and the Halloween series? Given how the timeline has reinvented itself over the years, don't count on it, but do expect a definitive end to this particular story.

"Like any trilogy, you want it to have a beginning, middle, and end. We had a concept of the ending, and two years ago, we wrote the first draft of it," Green told Bloody Disgusting.

"So, we had it all mapped out before we went into production on Kills. We knew where it was going, and we wanted Kills to be a symphony in the middle of the book of the Strode saga."

Halloween Ends is released in cinemas on October 14, 2022.
