Trial date set for man facing murder charge in shooting of Tulsa police sergeant

TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) – A judge has set April 4 as the trial date for David Ware, charged with murder in the shooting death of Tulsa police Sgt. Craig Johnson.

Tulsa County District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler is seeking the death penalty for Ware.
Ware also faces charges for shooting and wounding Officer Aurash Zarkeshan during a late-night traffic stop June 29, 2020. The shooting was captured on police video.
There will be a discovery status hearing Dec. 6.
The court clerk says jury selection may last up to a week.
