Morning Skate: One more sleep

Almost there.

Happy Friday, folks!

You’ve reached the end of the last full week without Bruins hockey. You did it (almost).

It’s already been quite a start to the NHL campaign: the Kraken have been released, Brady Tkachuk has a new deal, Charles Barkley was on an NHL broadcast, and Seth Jones had an inauspicious start at his new home.

We’ve also already had our first suspension!

Gabriel Landeskog, who has kind of been an under-the-radar-maybe-kind-of cheap player for a while, has been suspended two games for boarding Chicago’s Kirby Dach.

Good to see things picked up right where they left off.

Elsewhere, Sportico ranked the Bruins the fifth-most valuable NHL franchise, coming in at a cool $1.31 billion.

The B’s were ranked the third-most valuable American franchise, behind the Rangers and Blackhawks.

On the opposite end of the spectrum are the Arizona Coyotes, worth “just” $410 million.

One surprising name toward the bottom of the list? The Ottawa Senators, ranked 29th at $540 million.

To put that in perspective, that’s some $300 million less than Sportico ranked the worth of the brand-new Seattle Kraken.

Ottawa: Arizona of the north!
