Write On Offers Programs on Publicity, Poetry

Authors may know when to send a manuscript to an agent or publisher, but devising publicity strategies can be tricker. To help, Write On will offer a publicity seminar Oct. 20, 2-4 pm, via Zoom. 

Presenters will be Lynn Wiese Sneyd, a veteran book publicist, owner of LWS Literary Services and award-winning novelist; H. Alan Day, author of The Horse Lover: A Cowboy’s Quest to Save the Wild Mustangs and co-author of the memoir Lazy B; Todd Doughty, deputy publisher of Doubleday; and Shannon Baker, author of three mystery series and a stand-alone mystery. 

Participants will learn how to create a publicity timeline, which social-media platforms to use, how to solicit reviews and interviews, and more. 

Registration is $75; Write On members will receive a 10% discount.

Wisconsin poets Robin Chapman and Allison Townsend will read from their work Oct. 27, 4-5:30 pm. Chapman is the author of 10 award-winning books of poetry, including Abundance and The Only Home We Know, and she has earned the Wisconsin Library Association’s Outstanding Achievement in Poetry Award. Townsend is the author of an essay collection, The Persistence of Rivers, and two collections of poetry. The reading is free.

Allison Townsend will return Oct. 30, 2-4 pm, to offer What Have You Lost?: The Healing Path of Poetry, an in-person, supportive workshop that will share how poetry can help people heal from loss and grief. The class is limited to 12 participants, so advance registration is required.
