Fast was the recipient of a bit of good fortune, getting credit for a go-ahead goal in the first period when Jaccob Slavin's sharp-angle shot deflected off Fast's body. The 29-year-old Fast had six goals and 19 points in 46 games for Carolina last year after spending his first seven NHL seasons with the Rangers.
