Portland Trail Blazers will close preseason Friday at Golden State Warriors minus Damian Lillard: Game preview, time, TV channel, how to watch online

The Portland Trail Blazers have one more opportunity to secure a victory this preseason before things get real Wednesday against Sacramento at the Moda Center.

The Blazers (0-3 preseason) play Friday night at Golden State (4-0) in the final preseason game for both teams.

If the Blazers are to avoid going winless this preseason, they will have to do so without star guard Damian Lillard. He said following the team’s 119-74 loss Wednesday at Phoenix that he likely wouldn’t play on Friday and it turns out that he will not. He will take the night off to rest, according to the team’s injury report.

“I want to start getting ready for the regular season,” Lillard said.

A victory Friday, or even a decent showing, is not imperative, according to Lillard. Instead, he would rather assure that he remains healthy and is fresh for the start of the regular season. One game, he said, won’t matter much in the grand scheme of things given that he already feels comfortable with the new offense and defense under new coach Chauncey Billups.

At this point, it’s safe to say that there will likely be growing pains for the Blazers early on in the season as they continue to work out the kinks.

“We’ve just got to be more consistent at it,” Lillard said.

The Warriors are 4-0 with wins over Denver, two against the Los Angeles Lakers and one over Portland, which came Oct. 4 by the score of 121-107 at the Moda Center.

INJURIES

Blazers: G Damian Lillard (rest), G Anfernee Simons (right thumb sprain), G/F Tony Snell (right foot sprain), F Nassir Little (left hamstring strain) and C Cody Zeller (nose fracture) are out for Friday’s preseason game at Golden State.

Warriors: NA.
