Andres Dupont, #15 in Class of 2022, Gives Verbal Commitment to Stanford

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Andres Dupont Cabrera from Bolles School and the club team Bolles School Sharks in Jacksonville, Florida has announced his verbal commitment to Stanford University for 2022-23.

“I am extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to Stanford University. I would like to thank my coaches, friends and family members for all the support they gave me throughout the years. Go Card!! 🌲”

Cabrera is our number 15 recruit from the class of 2022. He is one of the top 100/200 freestylers in the class and won both individual events (44.09/1:35.60) last high school season at the 2020 FHSAA Class 1A State Swimming and Diving Championships. He further contributed to Bolles’ team title with leadoffs of 20.45 and 44.18 on the winning 200 and 400 free relays. His winning time in the 200 free broke a 20-year-old Bolles School record of 1:35.81, set by Clay Kirkland in 2000.

A native of Mexico, Dupont became a boarder at Bolles last fall. He has represented Mexico internationally at CCCAN. He swam a pair of sub-50.03 100 frees in May at the 2021 Atlanta Classic Swim Meet, clearing the Olympic Selection Time standard, but Mexico only named four swimmers to its Tokyo 2020 squad.

Best SCY times:

  • 200 free – 1:35.60
  • 100 free – 43.91
  • 50 free – 20.28
  • 100 fly – 48.77
  • 100 back – 49.37

Dupont will join the Cardinal with Henry Morrissey, Josh Zuchowski, Liam Custer, and Rafael Gu. He will have an immediate impact on the Stanford roster, with times that are already fast enough to score at the conference level. He would have been a B-finalist in the 200 free and a C-finalist in the 50/100 free at 2021 Pac-12 Men’s Championships, and as he continues to develop, he’ll have the potential to contribute to all five relays.

Congratulations Andres on your achievement! Welcome to the Farm!

The only uncommitted Top 22 recruits left is #11 Zhier Fan (former #4), top breaststroker in this class. It is likely that he is also Stanford-bound.

The M Swim Recruits weekend was last weekend and they had 2022 and 2023 classes visited Stanford. Zhier Fan wasn’t there because he was at the FINA meet. But the team tagged him on their IGs as well.

Rex Maurer along with other 2023 recruits were also there. So I guess Rex will probably join his brother Luke in 2023.
