We had better hope it’s true, because, judging by statistics through the first five games, Green Bay’s defense is the very definition of average. The team ranks somewhere near the middle of the pack in nearly all important categories.
When you look at the rankings for total defense, the Packers are an impressive sixth in the league. But those standings are based solely on total yardage given up, and that can be deceiving.
