The Red Sox announced their starters for Games 1 and 2 of the ALCS and the order is a little surprising.

Alex Cora told reporters in Houston Thursday afternoon that Chris Sale will start Game 1 Friday night with Nathan Eovaldi getting Game 2. Everyone expected Eovaldi to start Game 1 and Game 2 being up in the air.

Cora confirmed that Sale will not be an opener.

Sale struggled against the Rays, going just one inning in Game 2, allowing five runs on four hits, including a grand slam.

Eovaldi last pitched Sunday when he went five innings and allowed just two runs in Game 3. He will take to the mound Saturday on six days rest.

Game 1 is set for 8:07 ET first pitch, while Saturday's Game 2 will be at 4:20 ET.
